THE STORY OF HOW MEDITATION CHANGED MY LIFE

When I met  a Guru in 1992, my Meditation journey and practice began.  I was living in Berkeley, CA at the time when a friend invited me to go meet his Guru who was in the area visiting and teaching at her ashram in Oakland, CA.  I went to the meditation service and afterwards I was fortunate to receive the ancient and powerful Shaktipat Initiation directly from the Guru.  This awakened and opened my Third Eye and Pineal gland.  This awakening changed my life and started my journey with meditation, Siddha Yoga spiritual practice and a Spiritual Awakening. 

  I have been meditating for 20 years and it has positively impacted every area of my life.  I’m blessed with the experience of meeting a guru from India while I was living in California at age 19.  This was my first experience with meditation and it was an intense and powerful one! I recieved shaktipat initiation from the guru face to face which was a beautiful experience.  This initiation awakened energy in me allowing me to go into deep states of meditation effortlessly. Meditation became a part of my daily living routine and I could enter into meditation effortlessly throughout my day or night just as someone can say prayers throughout their day.  


Meditation allowed me to gain insights into my life. Meditation was a godsend for me after I survived a near-death experience during a nearly fatal auto accident.


I was only 19 years old, in a foreign country all alone having surgery done in the ER  after I was nearly killed in a serious car accident.  I began automatically meditating and repeating the mantra Om Namah Shivya while I was in surgery. This allowed me to block out the pain and to stay in an altered state of consciousness.  


The surgeon was talking to me during the emergency surgery process and he told me that I could stay awake and not be put under with anesthesia since I was meditating and using that process to reach a state of self hypnosis where I was not affected by the pain.  

The power of the mind was activated and I was able to stay fully-conscious and aware of the entire process and stay calm rather than being knocked out and put under.

I utilized my meditation practice in the same way during natural childbirth of both my daughters.  During both births I used meditation to block my perception of pain and was successful at delivering 2 babies 100% naturally with no interventions, epidurals or pain medications of any type.  I successfully delivered one child at home using water birth and meditation , self-hypnosis and mindfulness techniques. 


The other birth had complications and I suffered from painful injuries following the birth, yet I still delivered 100% naturally even with the complications.  Without my meditation practice and my skill at entering a deep meditative state,  I would have needed a C-section or other medical interventions. 



Meditation helped me manage and overcome chronic pain that resulted from the serious car accident.  For the past 20 years, I have used my meditation and mindfulness practice to overcome chronic neck and back pain from the car accident.


Meditation and mindfulness have helped me manage postpartum depression/anxiety.  Mediation has also given me many positive benefits such as: increased mental clarity and focus, increased sense of peace and calm, relief of anxiety symptoms, relief from insomnia, increased motivation and drive, increased creativity and problem-solving ability, increased sex drive and sexual pleasure levels and a happier and calmer state of mind overall.
